The work, taken care of

Log, scan, suggest, fix. With undo.

Turn it on from the site's Dashboard tab. The site starts counting 404s the same day, the first scan runs within a day, and every finding comes with a suggested fix you apply with one click.

01

A 404 log with no visitor data

Every request for a missing address is counted: the path, how often, when, and the page that linked to it. No IP addresses, no browsers, no query strings. Scanner noise and our own crawler are never counted, and the log is pruned after 120 days.

02

A weekly crawl for broken links and images

Up to 200 of the site's public pages are read as an anonymous visitor and every link and image is checked, including links to other websites. Carts, checkouts, account pages and anything behind a login are never requested.

03

Fixes that are exact and undoable

A redirect only ever answers an address that would otherwise be a 404, so a live page is never hidden, and it is verified with a real request after it is written. “Fix link” changes that URL, exactly, in pages, posts, menus and Elementor layouts, with a WordPress revision first and an undo in the portal.

Built around your next decision

Less to manage yourself.

Search Console keeps emailing about 404s.

A renamed service page, an old brochure PDF, a post from three years ago. The card shows which missing addresses visitors are landing on, which page sent them, and the closest match on your site now. One click adds the redirect; marking one “gone” tells search engines to drop it.

You run Redirection or Broken Link Checker.

Broken Link Checker crawls from inside WordPress, which is why it slows sites down; ours crawls from outside, once a week. Redirection and Rank Math's redirect manager keep working beside ours and answer first; we only answer what would still be a 404. If you ever leave, your redirects export in Redirection's CSV format.

You rebuilt a client's site and the old URLs are everywhere.

After a redesign the old links live on in Google, on partner sites and in the client's own menus. The log fills within days, the recommendations rank the close calls, and each fix writes an audit entry you can show the client.

One managed plan

8 tools built in. The plugins can go.

Broken links & 404s is one of 8 tools built into TopSyde managed WordPress hosting: SEO, speed, two-factor login, cookie consent, form protection, broken-link fixes, database cleanup and AI edits, each one switch per site, along with a team to help you make the switch. Bought separately, the SEO, speed and cookie plugins alone run $425+ a year per site; the others come on top.

List prices checked October 2026: Yoast SEO Premium $118.80/yr, WP Rocket $59.95/yr ($299.95 for up to 50 sites), CookieYes Pro $250/yr per domain (the plan with region targeting, like ours). Two-factor plugins have free tiers, so we count none. Form protection, broken-link fixes, database cleanup and AI edits are not counted either: Akismet's commercial plan lists at $9.95/month per site (checked 14 October 2026), while Redirection, Broken Link Checker and WP-Optimize's cleanup are free, and AI edits replaces developer time, not a plugin.

Optional per site, off by default. Turning it off removes our small plugin, so its redirects stop answering; the redirects you made stay listed in the portal and the 404 log stays on the site.

Can a redirect break a page that works?

No. Our redirects are served only when WordPress has already decided the address is a 404, so a live page, a page another plugin redirects, or a file the web server answers itself is never touched. A redirect is created only when the source answers 404 right now and the target answers 200 on the same site, and it is checked with a real request afterwards.

How are the suggestions made?

Slug and title similarity first. Only genuinely close calls go to an AI model, which sees the addresses and page titles and nothing else. If nothing fits, the advice is to leave it as a 404 or mark it gone; we never suggest the homepage. Nothing changes on the site until someone presses a button.

What does “Fix link” edit?

The broken URL's exact spellings in page and post content, custom menu links and Elementor layouts, with a revision saved first and the original kept for undo. Links inside Beaver Builder, Divi, Bricks, Oxygen or theme files are not edited; the card offers a redirect instead. An undo is refused if the page has been edited since, and the revision in WordPress is the way back.

What can't it redirect?

A missing file the web server answers on its own, such as an image or PDF under the uploads folder, never reaches WordPress. The portal says so when it checks the redirect, and the fix is to restore the file or change the link.

Does it work on multisite?

Not yet. The switch is unavailable for WordPress multisite installs today.
